The competition brief
called for an ‘art factory’ that could accommodate
very large works of art for exhibit.
This project, adjacent
to a large urban lawn consists of a series of layered skins.
A solid inner shell with strategic openings on the walls and
roof allows light penetration into the gallery interior and
the transparent outer weatherproof shell creates a shimmering,
layered glass box. At night the building glows.
The subtle play of
light within the clean, uncluttered and voluminous interiors
creates a series of calm, subtle spaces that provide a backdrop
for the artwork, without distracting the visitor.
